How To Get Privacy and Blackout With Blinds

Privacy and blackout curtains + blinds are important for many homeowners as they offer practical benefits and also contribute to the overall aesthetics of a home. Some popular options for achieving privacy and light control (and privacy from nosey neighbours) are our range of made to measure roman blinds and roller blinds. Or, choose from a range of sheer fabrics for privacy without blocking all the light. Why not go all out with both? Blackout lined roman or roller blinds for privacy with sheers for light control. The best of both worlds!

Why Choose Roller Blinds?

For privacy in rooms that are street-facing or overlooked, a sheer privacy roller blind would give you some control from peeping eyes without blocking too much light. On the other hand, you might want to try a white blackout roller blind. It’s the same as our privacy roller blind but doesn’t let any light through so can give you that bit of sunblock you may need in warmer months. Ideal for bedrooms, it works best in a recess. If you want a splash of colour or extra blackout, you can add a roman blind outside the window recess. This will allow you to add warmth to your room and a sleek look to your windows.

Why Choose Roman Blinds?

A made to measure roman blind is a great way to dress your windows. There are over 300 eco-conscious fabrics to choose from to achieve your dream window apparel. You can have roman blinds with the following lining options to give you control over light, and heat retention, in a room.

Roman blind lining options:

Unlined - - - a wonderfully simple and affordable option, we make your blind using your selected fabric only. The unlined finish is great for showing off the natural beauty and form of your fabric.

Lined - - - the most affordable lining option, we stitch a cotton lining to the back of your selected fabric before making your blind. The lined finish gives a nicely tailored look ensuring that your blind will stay looking smart.

Bonded - - - we stitch a padded lining to the back of your selected fabric before making your roman blind. The bonded lining gives a fuller, more luxurious look than the lined finish and provides additional insulation.

Bonded Blackout - - - we stitch a padded blackout lining to the back of your selected fabric before making your roman blind. The bonded lining gives a fuller, more luxurious look than the blackout lined finish, provides additional insulation, and is perfect for your bedroom ensuring a good night’s sleep.

What About Curtains?

For larger windows, blinds may not be a suitable solution for blackout or privacy. Made to measure curtains can be hung in so many ways and at different lengths to suit your room and windows. For privacy, without blackout, try our range of sheer curtains. Perfect for your living room or bedroom, sheer curtains are great in offering a little bit of extra privacy and light filtering, but they may need a helping hand in completely shutting out the outside world!

Blackout or Sheers? Why Not Both?

Longer, sunnier days mean sunshine and lots of light. It also makes it trickier to get enough beauty sleep or keep rooms cool on hot days. Adding blackout lining to your curtains is the perfect solution to both. Or maybe you just need a little privacy from nosey neighbours? Go for a relaxing vibe and let light in whilst still offering some privacy with our range of sheer fabrics. If you need help with lighter nights and some privacy, having both sheers and blackout is possible and also looks super stylish.
