Curtain + Blind Hacks for all Windows

By having a large amount of stack back or gather of fabric on either side of a window, you can make the window or expanse of windows seem larger as the curtains trick the brain into thinking there is more window behind them. You can achieve this by extending the rod or track as far to each side of the window as you’d like the window to seem.

Contemporary or modern buildings have much larger windows with large expanses of glass that can be impressive but also exposing. Having made to measure curtains that gather in front of the glass, gives the space a more intimate feeling. The more fabric the better!

It’s often expected to have symmetrical windows of the same size in a room, however, if you live in an old house or even one with an extension, the windows can differ. Curtains don’t have to be used solely for windows. In one room, you can have more than one type of fabric as long as there is balance and symmetry. A more discrete fabric that matches the wall can be used to hide doorways, arches or entrances whilst the bolder fabric draws your eye to the windows. Alternatively, you could change the focus by using a bolder fabric in front of the door and a paired back material on the windows.

Some spaces would benefit from having the windows hidden; a great way to sort this out is by hanging a sheer blind in front of the entire window. This allows light to diffuse into the room whilst softening the space and detracting from the eyesore.

Blinds and curtains look fabulous in bay windows but if it’s a polished look you are going for, nothing screams tailored like a custom made curtain rod that closely follows the curve of a bay.
