Privacy and Blackout: what are they and what’s the difference?

Longing for a good night’s sleep? Or do you live on a busy road and just want some privacy?

Roller blinds

To achieve privacy from nosy parkers, you’ll be wanting privacy but also sunlight into your room, similar to a net curtain, only more modern. Our roller blinds do just that, while adding a sleek, modern feel to your windows. On the other hand, you might want to try a white blackout roller blind. It’s the same as our privacy roller blind but doesn’t let any light through. Ideal for bedrooms, it works best in a recess. If you want a splash of colour or extra blackout, you can add a roman blind outside the window recess. This will give you an opportunity to add warmth to your room and a sleek look for your windows.

Roman blinds

A roman blind is a great way to dress your windows, giving a modern look and feel. You can have Roman blinds with the following lining options to give you control over light.

Lining options:

Unlined - a wonderfully simple and affordable option, we make your blind using your selected fabric only. The unlined finish is great for showing off the natural beauty and form of your fabric.

Lined - the most affordable lining option, we stitch a cotton lining to the back of your selected fabric before making your blind. The lined finish gives a nicely tailored look ensuring that your blind will stay looking smart.

Bonded - we stitch a padded lining to the back of your selected fabric before making your roman blind. The bonded lining gives a fuller, more luxurious look than the lined finish and provides additional insulation.

Bonded Blackout - we stitch a padded blackout lining to the back of your selected fabric before making your roman blind. The bonded lining gives a fuller, more luxurious look than the blackout lined finish, provides additional insulation, and is perfect for your bedroom ensuring a good night’s sleep.

Curtains

Made to measure curtains can be hung in so many ways and at different lengths to suit your room and windows. But here, we’re talking about blackout, not styles. So here’s a little more about the different types of lining that can help create blackout.

A bit more about the different types!

Interlined - the most luxurious lining option, we stitch a padded woven fabric and a cotton lining to the back of your selected fabric before making your curtain. The interlined finish gives a fuller more extravagant look and provides great insulation against cold, drafty windows. *Top tip: interlined curtains are very heavy, make sure your curtain pole will take the weight.
