At Stitched, we’ve learned that the quickest way for a room to date is through the wrong fabric. Patterns, in particular, can have a short shelf life. Today’s must have motif can turn into tomorrow’s ‘oh dear’ faster than you can say sample. And because curtains and blinds should be investment pieces, made to live with you for years, we avoid fabrics that may age before your home does.
So you won’t find us pushing loud prints or fleeting fads. Instead, we focus on colour, texture and quality. The wildest our patterns get is stripes. Classic, timeless stripes. Fabrics you want to run your fingers along. Fabrics with weight, movement and longevity. Window apparel that settles beautifully into your home for years to come.
Relaxed roman blinds (also known as European romans) are a perfect example of the trend trap. Right now, they’re everywhere: a softly drooping hem here, a little nonchalance there. And yes, they can look charming in a cottage setting, but they’re not always practical in real life. More of a ‘dress’ blind, they don’t hold their shape and need a hand getting into place every time you pull them up and down. So soon enough, they’ll go the same way as many trends do - - - loved for a moment, then quietly retired.
