Our curtains are all custom made in the UK so you can create something for your home to be proud of. Here is everything you need to know about our custom curtains…
What is curtain lining? Lining is the fabric added to the back of your curtain. We have five different types of lining - lined, blackout lined, interlined, interlined blackout and thermal lined. Alternatively, you can also have your curtain unlined. Lining helps to protect your chosen fabric from sunlight damage but can also add extra insulation to your windows.
What is curtain pooling? Pooling describes the amount of fabric that sits on the floor at the bottom of your custom made curtains. We have three different types of pooling - just touching, normal pooling and generous pooling. Just touching means the curtains will just meet your floor, normal pooling is roughly 1-3cm of extra fabric and generous pooling is 5cm+ of fabric.
What curtain headings can I choose? We have multiple curtain heading options; pencil pleat, euro pleat, double pleat, triple pleat, eyelet, wave, goblet and cartridge. The heading style is the way in which the curtain is gathered at the top. It determines how the curtain will hang and has a huge impact on the look and style. Check out our curtain heading guide to find the best heading for your custom curtains.
What is curtain stackback? Curtain stackback is the amount of fabric your curtains have on either side of your window when your curtains are open. The type of heading you choose will impact the amount of stackback/fabric you have and it will dictate the length of the curtain pole or track. Adding 10-20cm to your curtain width (if you have space!) will mean your curtains block less light and cover less window when they are open.
How do I measure for custom curtains? We’ve made measuring windows easy! Take a look at our step-by-step measuring guide on how to measure for your curtains, with or without a pole. We have measuring guides for flat windows, and for bay window custom curtains.
Should I get a curtain pole or a curtain track for my custom curtains? Choosing a track or a pole for your custom curtains is mostly personal preference. Our poles are available in metal or wood in a number of finishes and curtain poles have more of a traditional, styled looked. Our tracks are metal and available in white, ash and slate. Curtain tracks create a more modern look for your custom curtains and are a more discreet option. These can also be either wall or ceiling mounted. Take a look at our custom curtain tracks and poles.
How do I install my custom curtains? We’ve made installing your custom made curtains easy too! Take a look at our step-by-step YouTube tutorial on how to install your custom curtains, or follow our handy online installation guides for step-by-step instructions on installing your custom curtain poles and tracks.
How long is delivery? As all of our products are custom made, they take a little longer than ready made curtains, but will still be with you just a few weeks after placing your order. Any questions? Get in touch, our design team are happy to help!
